Developmental Work 3

For my development work, I will be taking inspiration from Sophie Calles documentary photos. She took photos from other peoples homes and hotel rooms of personal belongings. I am developing my responses to her work by creating 16 shots of my daily routines, the 16 shots will represent the 16 hours of my day from waking up to going to sleep. I am going to present these 16 shots in a way that shows the progression and the tracking of what I do in a day. I will also be capturing, leaving behind an imprint of where I have been, to show what I have just done and the trace of me that I have left behind. Interpretively this is a way of keeping track of the track I leave behind, in day to day activities, and also photographing the imprint of what I have left behind.

Furthermore, I want to symbolise someone keeping a 'track record' of things that take place in their day, things that would normally go unnoticed and making those boring activities into something memorable. Sophie Calle takes photos of peoples rooms and things around their room, I want to symbolise the little ,somewhat boring and laborious task or activities that take place in someone's day that would normally be a routine and something unnextraordinary and turn them into a record of their day by keeping track of the events that take place every day.

These are my first selection of development photos...

For these developments I wanted to create an empathetic view of a daily routine, one which is realistic and people can relate to,much like Sophie Calles work.
I chose to edit them to black and white to portray the photos as being in the past, where you are looking back on the track of your day.
